In this guide, we will show you how to use Automagical Forms. We have two guides. A short guide and a longer, full guide further down this article.

Short guide

This guide will explain you how to use Automagical Forms. If you need more information, check out the full guide below. If you haven't installed Automagical Forms yet, follow the installation guide first.

Step 1

After installation, you can find Automagical Forms in the sidebar of Gmail, a Slides presentation, a Docs document or a Drive file. Click on the small, purple unicorn logo (see image below).

Step 2

Follow the instructions in the side panel that appears. Instructions can vary depending on the type of document or email.

In some cases, permission is asked explicitly to be able to access a document.

This guide will explain you how to use Automagical Forms. If you need more information, reach out to us. If you haven't installed Automagical Forms yet, follow the installation guide first.

Step 1

After installation, you can find Automagical Forms in the sidebar of Gmail, a Slides presentation, a Docs document or a Drive file. Click on the small, purple unicorn logo (see image below).

Note: On mobile, Automagical Forms is not available for Docs and Slides, only for Gmail and Drive.
Tip: Are you part of a Google Workplace Domain (formerly Gsuite) and are you unable to install or open Automagical Forms? It could be that your Workplace Administrator has restricted installations. In that case, you could ask them to whitelist this add-on or install it domain-wide.

Step 2

Follow the instructions in the side panel that appears.

Draw rectangles around images or automatically detect them.

Note: The supported file types are PDF files, Google Doc files and Images with handwriting (paid plan only).
Note: In some cases, we ask for permission to access the file first. We do this so that we don't have to have access to every file in your Drive, but only those that you wish to automatically convert.

Docs document

You are given the option to Automagically convert the document into a Google Form or manually select questions by drawing a rectangle around them.

Gmail

You are given the option to Automagically convert the attached PDF file of an email into a Google Form or manually select questions by drawing a rectangle around them.

Drive

The side panel will show a menu if you don't have any file selected (dashboard, tips and options). If you do have a file selected, you are given the option to Automagically convert a file into a Google Form or manually select questions by drawing a rectangle around them.

Step 3

After a bit of loading time (Artificial Intelligence needs some time, too!) the questions that were found are presented and a Google Form can be made.

You can also select or deselect questions that were found, in case you'd like to only use some but not all questions.

Select or deselect questions and generate a Google Form

Result

After clicking on the "Create Form" button, a Google Form (and result Sheet) are generated with the questions you've selected.
